Welcome!
Hello, world! Or, more accurately, Hello, Mom, Dad, Mom, Dad and Erin! We’ve started this blog so we can keep all of you updated on our adoption process. As a plus, if we ever forget to tell you something about the adoption and you get mad at us, we can throw back in your face that you should have been reading the blog, and we win the argument. Also, we’re not sure you’re allowed to adopt from a foreign country any more without blogging about it. I guess Madonna and Angelina don’t blog about their adoptions, but they’re rich so they can get away with that. It’s kind of selfish of them, though, as the world is missing out on getting to read about their filling out dossiers and how their home studies went.
And that’s the exciting stuff we’ll be writing about here – home studies, paperwork, court dates, lots of waiting. It may not be exceptionally exciting to most people, but we’re extremely excited to get started on what we’ve been talking about lo these many years, back to when we were killing time and racking up credit card debt (seriously) at Midnight Oil. It will also be extremely exciting for the baby who will one day be ours as this will chronicle his/her journey from Rwanda to our home, which will hopefully be a very happy thing for him/her. This will also help his/her future therapist, as his/her parents’ neuroses will be documented for easy reference.
We named the blog “Henry or Charlotte” as these are the names we’ve picked out and that’s how we’ll refer to the baby until we find out his/her gender, and then we can assign a name (Henry for a boy, Charlotte for a girl). Feel free to forward us your thoughts on how wonderful those names are, but stuff it if you have any criticism.
We won’t have a lot to post at first as we haven’t even picked out an agency yet, but if you get impatient, feel free to forward us $20,000 and the posts will become much more regular.
Thanks for caring about us and our baby, and indulging us as we discuss and celebrate the mundane details of the adoption process.

I am very proud to be your first commenter. Also very proud to be Nana-to-be. Hanry/Charlotte are very blessed!

I echo Nana’s comments. I look forward to meeting Henry/Charlotte and spoiling him/her!

Hey you two – WOW — so the journey begins. Kev and I are so very happy for you — but mainly for C or H (which I love the names!) as they will be very blessed to have great parents!
Love, tt
